Call to book
The town sits in a valley between the East Cliff and the West Cliff, around the only Royal Harbour in the UK, a title George IV gave it in 1821. A pickup from a berth in the marina is not the same as one from a cliff-top street, so this page sets out where the car meets you, how long each airport takes and how the trains compare.
The same cars and drivers also handle business transfers to London, school and university transfers at the start and end of term, luxury travel for special occasions, and long-distance journeys to the cruise terminals and other UK cities. Every journey is booked ahead.
Airport Transfer Service
Typical times from a Ramsgate address to the terminal, as Express Travel Kent publishes them. Traffic and roadworks change them on the day, so build in a margin. Enter your exact address in the booking system and the fixed fare shows straight away.

Pickup Points
The harbour has its own road in from outside the town, the Royal Harbour Approach, which runs through a tunnel and avoids the town centre. Where the car meets you depends on which part of the harbour or seafront you are leaving from.
Military Road, along the inner marina, is not an adopted public road. Whether you are stepping off a boat or leaving a harbour flat, we agree the exact meeting spot with you when you book.
Madeira Walk, Wellington Crescent and Victoria Parade make up the B2054. Kent County Council has used it as the diversion route when Harbour Street and High Street were closed, as in 2025, so it can be busier than usual on those days.
At the top of the town near St Lawrence, not down by the harbour. If you are meeting the car off a train, tell us which station you will be at and the train you are on.
Areas We Cover
Airport and long-distance journeys start from any address in CT11 and CT12. The booking system shows the fixed fare for your exact address before you confirm.
The valley floor between the two cliffs. Harbour and marina pickups are covered in the section above.
Residential streets east of the harbour, with a promenade along the cliff top. The seafront road is the B2054.
Residential streets west of the harbour, with their own cliff-top promenade. The villages beyond are in the next section.
The inland side of town. Ramsgate station is near St Lawrence, at the top of the town, if you would rather meet the car there.
“Not on the list? Send us your address and we will reply with a fixed fare.”
Book Your JourneyLocal Knowledge
West of the harbour are Pegwell, Cliffsend, Ebbsfleet (near Cliffsend), Minster, Monkton and Manston. We collect from every one of them for airport, business, school and long-distance journeys.
Between 2009 and 2012 the A299 was rerouted between the Minster and Lord of the Manor roundabouts as part of the East Kent Access Road, with an underpass beneath the railway at Cliffsend.
Thanet Parkway station opened on 31 July 2023 between Ramsgate and Minster, near Cliffsend. It has 293 parking spaces, including 16 Blue Badge bays and 12 with EV charging, and lifts to both platforms. Parking is paid. If you would rather meet the car there than at home, we agree the spot when you book.
Beyond the Airport
Airport transfers come first on this site, but the same pre-booked service covers four other kinds of journey from Ramsgate and the villages.
01London, other UK cities and the cruise terminals at Southampton. From most Ramsgate addresses the drive starts on the A299 Hengist Way towards the M2, and the fare is fixed before you set off.
02The Port of Dover is around 30 to 40 minutes from Ramsgate via the A256, for its two cruise terminals at the Western Docks and for ferry crossings. Ramsgate's own port has had no passenger ferry since 2013.
03Executive saloons to meetings and offices in London, to events, and to London City for short European flights. High-speed trains run from Ramsgate station to St Pancras, but the car takes you and your bags to the building you need.
04Pupils and students between home in Ramsgate, Minster or Cliffsend and their school, college or university, or the airport at the start and end of term. Tell us who is travelling and who will be waiting for them.
05Executive cars for special occasions, and as-directed hire by the hour or by the day, from a West Cliff terrace, an East Cliff house or a berth in the Royal Harbour Marina.
Local Knowledge
Thanet Parkway has high-speed trains to St Pancras in about 70 minutes. Ramsgate station has had high-speed trains to St Pancras since December 2009. Minster has one train an hour to London Charing Cross via Tonbridge, one an hour to Ramsgate and a single early-morning train to St Pancras.
None of the airports is on these lines, so with luggage you change trains at least once in London. A car goes from your front door to the terminal forecourt in one leg, and the typical times are in the table below.
Journey Times
From Ramsgate the airport journeys normally leave on the A299 towards the M2. After that the route depends on the airport.
| Typical time | Usual route | |
|---|---|---|
| Gatwick | 1h 40m – 2h | A299, then the M20, or the M25 and M23 |
| Heathrow | 2h – 2h 30m | A299 and M2, then the M25 west |
| Stansted | 1h 55m – 2h 20m | A299 and M2, then the Dartford Crossing |
| Luton | 2h 5m – 2h 35m | A299 and M2, then the Dartford Crossing |
| London City | 1h 35m – 1h 55m | A299 and M2, then the A2 and the Blackwall Tunnel |
Typical times as Express Travel Kent publishes them. Traffic, weather and roadworks change them, and overnight roadworks on the M2 and M25 are common, so allow a margin before check-in.
Common Questions
Yes. Military Road, which runs along the inner marina, is not an adopted public road, so we agree the exact meeting spot with you when you book. Tell us your berth and how much luggage you have.
Not for passengers. TransEuropa Ferries suspended its Ramsgate to Ostend sailings on 18 April 2013 and was the last passenger operator at the port. There has been no cross-Channel passenger service since, so for a ferry or a cruise we take you to the Port of Dover, around 30 to 40 minutes away.
No. The last scheduled flight left Manston on 9 April 2014 and the airport closed on 15 May 2014. RiverOak, its owner since July 2019, plans to reopen it for cargo first, and no passenger airline has been confirmed. For flights we take you to Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted, Luton or London City.
Yes, from any address in CT11 and CT12, including Ebbsfleet near Cliffsend. Enter your address in the booking system and you see the fixed fare for it before you confirm.
Yes, but book as early as you can. The Royal Temple Yacht Club's July regatta brings crews from France, the Netherlands, Belgium and the UK to the harbour; in 2026 it ran from 19 to 24 July. For that week we agree a meeting point with you when you book.
Yes. We track your flight and time the collection to the actual landing. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board and helps with your luggage, and you have 45 minutes of free waiting after an international flight, 30 after a domestic one.
